Project Title: Network Management Centre (NMC) for the KL International Airport

Description:
The KLIA Network Management Centre (known as NMC) project is a total integrated network solution for the airport. The solution comprise of:
1. Network Management System
2. Cable Management System
3. Trouble Ticketing System
4. Internet Gateway and Firewall System
5. Network and Data Security Plan
6. Domain Name Services

The KLIA network comprises of full ATM solution, which transports voice and data services across all the buildings within the airport. The topology comprises of FDDI, Token Ring, Ethernet, as well as Fast Ethernet solution based on the Newbridge, CISCO and ODS platform. The NMC is driven by the NetExpert system, an integrated network management system created to provide fault, configuration, and performance management by incorporating widely accepted standards with the ability to manage the proprietary protocols. The implementation of the NetExpert brings four key business advantages to the day-to-day operations environment for KLIA:

  1. the speed of implementation and the flexibility to adapt the product to changing network environments
  2. the addition of automated control throughout the network
  3. the increased productivity for the network staff from the operators to the managers
  4. the increased accountability for problem handling and resolution

It is integrated with the ProHelpdesk system, which provides a comprehensive trouble ticketing system to manage the operations of the network. The cable Management System is supported by Accugraph Software, which can store all the information on cabling for the whole airport with the capacity of inventory management. The NMC also provides Internet connection throughout the airport and manages the network and data security of the TAMS (which is Total Airport Management System). The management of the IP addresses, segmentation and user profile are done through the domain name services, which again puts NMC as the Centre of the network operations for the airport, within, and outside KLIA.

XYBASE is being well positioned as the technology recipient for the most advanced integrated network solution within this region. The KLIA NMC will be the future network management centre for all the airports throughout Malaysia as well as the catalyst for the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor project.
