Description:
The Point Of Sales (POS) implementation at the new KL International Airport (KLIA), Sepang will be the single largest integrated POS installation in an airport in the world. The passenger complex and other commercial complexes will house approximately 500 concessions. Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB), the airport authority for KLIA plan to earn 60% of their first years airport revenue from airport retailing, thereby providing an alternate source of income to airport charges.
With an integrated POS system, MAB has on-line information on the performance of every retail outlet and product in the airport and will be able to carry out effective planning to direct and improve airport retailing at KLIA.

There are five separate but inter-related aspects of the development of the POS system:
Design & Development
Analysis, design and development of the major components of the system software, communications and interfaces to the TAMS Network and Management Information Systems.
Equipment Acquisition
Procurement, installation and testing of all the components of the POS system.
Training
Training and providing application consultancy to 500 concession operators. Some 1500 concessionaire employees were trained on the usage of the POS software.
POS Procedures Manual (PPM)
Development of the operational procedures for the various POS equipment and software. The PPM also includes the procedures for concession management and concession implementation procedures.
Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
XYBASE will also provide 24 hrs O&M to MAB for the first two years of operations. Tasks performed during the O&M will include providing:
