Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) objective is to promote and safeguard Malaysian interest in the international trade arena, to spur the development of industrial activities and to further enhance Malaysian economic growth towards realizing Vision 2020.
|
For MITI and its agencies, the challenge ahead, as has been spelt out in the MATRIIX project tender document, will need to address the limitation of the current (host-based) systems and applications; the level of integration required; and overwhelming amount of information available in content and form; and the need to constantly update and maintain these sea of knowledge with the rapidly evolving information and communication technologies. Accessibility and availability of information systems are also key requirements in order to meet this challenge.
MITI MATRIIX has been implemented during the first phase of this project. The system and required functionalities are up and running. MITI and the agencies’ users are now accessing the functionalities provided by Phase I. In Phase II of this project, MITI requires that the MITI MATRIIX functionalities must be extended, enhanced and include new applications to provide more functionalities to the users especially in centralising information access, consolidation of distributed information, improvement of business process management, managing the knowledge within MITI and the agencies, more effective information dissemination and integration of de-centralised processes.
